A Café Paradise

A walkable distance from Saint John’s University, Panorama Café is the ideal of what coffee shops set out to be. This quaintly hidden café is situated down Parsons Boulevard on 84 Drive and 85 Avenue in Jamaica, Queens.

Following the philosophy and inspiration of Sri Chinmoy, the Panorama of My Silence-Heart Cafe encases the true spiritual and calming atmosphere of meditation in the decor and food.

From detox drinks to gluten-free baked goods, this café is perfect for anyone looking to study, read or even start their new cleanse.

Owner, Shashanka Karlen, created the the café after helping a friend with his gourment vegetarian restaurant, The Oneness- Fountain-Heart, which also follows the mission of Chinmoy.

“I have been interested in food all my life,” said 54-year old Karlen. “[And] we want to be a place where people can be inspired.”

With food specials and soup brought in daily, there is no shortage of good eats.

Personally, having had their signature coffee, the Panorama Latte was a delight. Although, there wasn’t “latte art” to be found, the experience and generosity of the staff was enough to have me back again.

If you’re not into coffee that’s okay too, with a menu of items less than $10 there is a bit of something for everyone.

EAT TIPS: Closed on Mondays & they close everyday at 6 p.m. Great for a vegetarian too! Set forth & enjoy!
